catch up- long post!

On man did I let this go way to long. So much has happened with our family. Ill start with the delivery of the babies. I like to use this as a journal so I need to get it down before I start to forget everything.

~ At the end of my pregnancy we found out that Parker was smaller then his sister. They had been right with each other the whole p[pregnancy then Parker measured half a lb. smaller and the tech. told us it was probably because she couldn't get a very good measurement of his belly. Then a month later when we had our size ultrasound Parker was measuring a whole lb smaller than Aubrey. This caused a little concern with Dr. Eller because it can be a sign that the placenta is giving out and not giving the baby what they need. This appointment was at 36 weeks so Dr. Eller told us to give the babies at least one more week and if I didn't go into labor then they would induce. I had no sign of going into labor at ALL. I was not thinned or dilated even the smallest amount. We had to go in for stress tests almost every other day. We went in on that Friday and then they had us come back Monday to check on the babies. They were fine and no contractions really. So Wednesday August 3rd came around and Chris and I both took our last finals of the semester. He took his biology final that morning around 11 am and I took my physiology final at 530 pm. We had to be to the hospital by 830 pm that night to start the induction.
Just before we left for the hospital my Uncle Brian and aunt Michelle stopped by and gave us the cutest little baby outfits for Aubrey and Parker. Then off we went to the hospital. When we got there we walked right in and the nurses took us back to our room in labor and delivery. There were not many people in labor and delivery that night so we got the nurse pretty much to ourselves. They decided to induce with a thing they place right next to the cervix. They felt it would be the best option and have the least amount of stress on the babies. Our nurse was so amazing. She just sat in our room and hung out with us while we all watched netflix and talked. We (Chris) didn't go to sleep until about four in the morning. lol it was so funny. I didn't really sleep at all because of the labor pain. I was trying so hard to wait it out for the epidural. I only made it until 630 am and had to get the epidural because the pain sucked! My grandma Judy got there just five min before they placed the epidural so Chris ran to hurry and get them both some coffee from the break room. He totally missed them putting the epidural in because he ended up spilling the coffee and had to clean it up. Also he didn't know that they were coming in to do the epidural so he was unaware he needed to hurry. In the end grandma Judy held my hand while the doctor did the epidural.
All through the day August 4, my doctor would come in and check my progress and it was slow. By six or seven I had made it to a 7 dilatation but the progress stopped there. I was so upset that I was going to need a c-section. I had prepared myself mentally for a normal delivery and felt kinda let down that I was not going to be able to have that. At 1011pm Parker Douglas Mabey came into this world and at 1012 pm his beautiful sister Aubrey Leanne Mabey joined him. Parker weighed 5 lbs. 3 oz and was 19 inch long(?) Aubrey weighed 5 lbs. 11 oz and was 19 1/2(?) inch long. They needed not NICU time or anything they were perfect. Dr. Eller was so funny after each baby was out she brought them into my sight and said, "quick mom look"and showed me the most wonderful babies in the world for a split second. Chris was able to hold the babies as they go me put back together. I could feel a small pain and tugging so the anaesthesiologist gave me a little more meds that then made me throw up. I got really cold and started shaking pretty bad. I had lost a lot of blood during the delivery so I don't know if it was the meds or m body going into shock but it sucked. I got so sleepy. I had to fight with everything to keep my eyes open. I wanted to see and hold my babies.
When they moved us back into the recovery room everyone was able to come back and see the babies. Here is my quick list that i can remember: mom(Lisa), Flora, Rachelle, Shaelee, Jim, Teresa. After an hour we were moved up into the room we would stay in or the next few days. everyone went up there said goodnight and went home about 130 am. Chris went into the nursery with Aubrey and Parker so he could watch them get baths and everything. I went to sleep.
The next morning they drew my blood to check and see what my count was. It came back at 20 crit.( normal is 40) so they really wanted me to get a blood transfusion but I refused. I know that the blood is there to use but I knew I was not going to die if I didn't get it so I opted to just recover in my own time. I was yellow and sick looking for a bit but really didn't feel to many ill effects from the lack of blood.
We came home from the hospital on August 8,2011. Parker weighed 4 lbs. 10 oz and Aubrey weighed 5 lbs. when we left. After our long journey our little family was able to come home safe and sound.

24 weeks 2 days

We had our appointment with maternal/fetal medicine on Wednesday may 4the and it went great. Parker is 1 lb 5 oz. and Aubrey is 1 lb. 6 oz. They are both measuring the size of normal babies! We are so excited that they are getting big and strong. Oh man are they getting big. My belly is stretching and growing so much. The little babies kick and flip all the time. Its really cool and weird to see my tummy move and wiggle.
Today we went to see my regular ob/gyn. It is our last appointment with him because Chris and I have decided to have fetal/ maternal take over and deliver the babies. I feel really bad, my ob is a really nice guy but he keeps missing little things with the pregnancy. Like today when we went in he said, "So your 25 weeks and 2 days now" and we replied "no, i think we are 24 weeks" the doctor was set that we were 25weeks so we just left it at that. We are 24 weeks not 25 and its little things like that that worry me. there is something like that at every appointment. Anyway today I did the glucose test and I don't think that drink was to bad. It tasted like fanta soda without the carbonation. The only annoying part was waiting an hour to have my blood drawn.
Chris is going to start go back to school starting this summer semester. I think he is nervous but also so excited to go back and take classes. We have a lot to do before the semester starts in two weeks. We have to get all the baby stuff set up and ready before the semester. I am also going to try and take summer classes to finish up the two classes i need to apply for the nursing program. Oh ya. I graduated yesterday with my A.S degree in general education. It was so fun to walk across the stage and get my diploma. Chris, mom, shaelee and Katie came to support me. All in all life is great and we couldn't be happier with our life. I love Chris so much and don't know how I was so lucky to be the girl that caught him. He is such a great support to me and shows me such unconditional love.

19 weeks 2 days

Today we had our fetal/maternal appointment. They did a in depth ultrasound and went through checking all the organs and blood flow through the cords. They said everything look good and that both the babies are about 10 ounces each. Which means that both of them are right on track and that both are getting equal nutrients. Another four weeks and we will go back to the high risk doc for more ultrasounds and check up's. On another fun note we have named our precious little boy but wont be telling until he arrives. We are still trying to decide on our little girl's name. We have some ideas but we have not been able choose just one yet. The babies have been moving so so so much. Chris has been able to feel them on the outside since I was about 16 ish weeks but only randomly. I was finally able to feel them kick on the outside at about 18ish weeks. Now they kick and move all the time and if you are patient you will most definitely get your hand kicked. Its so fun to get to play with them in a way. everyday i get more and more excited to meet them. we are over half way for twins so soon we will say hello to our little miracle babies. :) Baby girl arm Boy feet

17 weeks

So this will be short. There are a few things that I want to get down before I forget them. First off I want to keep track of how much weight I gain. So starting weight was 115 and at 17 weeks I weight 125. So I have gained ten pounds so far. I also want to get down some of the foods I enjoy now that i am not sick. I really haven't had any "cravings" that I had to have and couldn't live without but i do find that i prefer to eat home cooked meals compared to eating out. Also I am in love with watermelon. I pretty much ate an entire watermelon, minus the bit Chris managed to eat, in three days. other things i like are grapefruit, Carmelo's, peanut butter and raspberry jelly, fruity pebbles and waffles. I'm sure my list will grow or change but for now those are the things i am enjoying.
As for babies, they are doing great! Chris was actually able to feel them move this week. It isn't a huge super noticeable movement but if you sit still long enough and keep your hand there you can feel little pushes. We also bought a little device that lets you hear your babies heart beats and listen to their kicks. It is still to soon to hear the heart beats but we have sat and listened to them kick and move. It is pretty cool to hear them in there.

15 weeks 1 day- GREAT DAY!

So this last Wednesday i was up until 330 am watching "in the womb" on twins. I was so excited to find out what we were having and then this show was on so I didn't fall asleep forever. On Thursday we went to our doctors appointment and they put us in a normal room. Chris and I looked at each other questioningly because we thought we were supposed to have another ultrasound. When the doctor came in he remembered we had twins and moved us into the u.s. room. I was so excited that my heart was going a million miles an hour. Unfortunately my doctor has a ultrasound machine for the 1950s and it was not good enough to see the genders. He told us that they were moving too much and that since i was only 15 weeks we wouldn't be able to tell anyway. I was so so so sad :( He set us up to see the high risk specialist April 1st and said that they will be able to tell us the genders then. We left kinda bummed.
well lucky for us there is a Fetal photo place right across the street from the hospital. I asked Chris if we could just go talk to them and check it out. when we got there the girl was so sweet. She showed us all the packages and we decided we would do the 3d package. It was about 130 bucks but so worth every dollar. We got to spend about 20 minutes just watching our little babies dance all over.

And the big news!!!! WE ARE EXPECTING A .......

GIRL!
and a BOY!!
We are so so blessed with a beautiful little prince and princess. Okay a small story that I don't want to forget about. During the ultrasound the little boy was much easier to get on the ultrasound. He was showing the goods and dancing all over. We were excited that we got a little boy and at the same time became nervous that the second little one was a boy too. We really wanted one of each but had the feeling it was going to be two of the same gender so when we saw it was a boy we were almost sure the other little was a boy too. When the u.s. tech got the other little one in view baby b was not working with us and was positioned more toward my spine. It felt like an eternity had passed and then.... the u.s. tech labeled it Its a girl!! Chris pretty much jumped up out of his chair and came over and sat right next to me holding my hand. It was just so amazing to find out what our peanuts are and just see their personalities. The little boy was so free just bouncing all over and showing his goods. The little girl loves her hands. The whole time we watched her her little fingers were in or by her mouth. We cant wait to meet these two precious souls and are just so blessed that there are no words explain how much gratitude we have.
Later that night we went to target and bought the first gender preferred clothing. The little girl got a cute little yellow duck outfit and a pink blanket and the little boy got an adorable monkey outfit with a blue blanket that matched the style of the girls. There is so much more fun in our futures.

14 weeks

Oh man school has been keeping me so busy. I need to be better at blogging.
Our lives right now are not to exciting. On the 17th chris had a tooth implant put in and has been recovering from that this past week. Poor guy it was pretty painful. I have just been studying for bio and chem tests.
As for babies I am 14 weeks today. Baby center says that..."This week's big developments: Your baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb! Thanks to brain impulses, his facial muscles are getting a workout as his tiny features form one expression after another. His kidneys are producing urine, which he releases into the amniotic fluid around him — a process he'll keep up until birth. He can grasp, too, and if you're having an ultrasound now, you may even catch him sucking his thumb."(babycenter.com) They are getting so big so fast! I will post the new ultrasound pictures after the appointment next week.

10 weeks 5 days

Today I had another ultrasound and it was amazing! He said they are both doing great. They are side by side with one being towards my belly and the other closer to my back. It was so cute to see them in there. The one in the front was sleeping or relaxing and the one toward the back was so active. I saw it kicking and flipping around! I think that's when I realized just how real this really is and I am just so excited to meet them. I think that the one that was all calm is a little girl and the one bouncing off the walls is a little boy but we wont actually know for a few more weeks. My doctor wants me to come in every four weeks so my next doctors appointment is march 3rd at 140pm. We might be able to see what we are having then but if not then defiantly the next one around march 31st. Also he said my due date is Aug 23rd but twins usually come about 35weeks so that date is July 19Th. So pretty much we can expect them in JULY! AHHH I can hardly wait.

Eight weeks 3days

So we made it to eight and a half weeks... :) I have been pretty sick but it is not something i cant handle. I throw up about one-two times a day and am nauseous pretty much 24/7. Its all good though because that is a great sign that everything is going great. Ya know I thought when you were pregnant you would want to eat everything but I don't want anything. the thought of food makes me sick. I have found a few things that kinda settle the tummy. I have been eating so many bags of goldfish crackers we could have bought the factory, and also pudding. Chris was worried that I was not getting enough protein and suck so he got me these protein drinks called boost and they are actually good too. The boost drink is great for breakfast and helps reduce the morning sickness.

So my next doctor appointment is with my normal ob/gyn and he wants an ultra sound at ten weeks so 01-25-11 we will get another baby check. oh ya we had our first ultra sound last week and the doctor said everything looked wonderful! We even got to see and hear the little heartbeats! That's right we are having twins! There are two little peanuts in there. No wonder I'm so freaking sick. hahaha. He said the due date is Aug. 23 but with twins they usually come about 35 weeks so that's...July 20th. I cant wait. I know its going to be hard but every minute will be amazing. We have a 50/50 chance of having a girl and a boy. We are really hoping that we can get one of each but we also know we cant be picky so we will be happy just having two happy healthy babies.

I couldn't hold the secret anymore after that apt so right after the ultra sound was done we went up to Layton and had dinner with my mom. We showed her the ultra sounds and she started to cry(kinda). She is so excited to be a grandma. We also told my dad and Chris's dad. Their reactions are so funny. We tell them that we are pregnant and then we add that we are having twins and everyone says...no way....your joking...they really don't believe us for like five minutes lol.

Okay so funny little story that I want to remember forever. ---it may be more funny to me--- Just today 01-15 Chris and i went to find the stroller, car seats, rockers, and playpens that we like. We walked around babies r us for well over an hour. It was fun but a little stressful. With us having twins it makes it a bit more expensive. Anyway funny part. After we got the diaper bag that we liked we were walking down the isle and came upon a box of wipes. Chris said "wow those will take up the whole diaper bag." He looked at the bag and the wipes. I just busted a gut. He was so cute and has no idea about a lot of baby stuff. As I was laughing I kissed him and told him that they have travel carriers for the wipes that are thin so it wont take up that much room. It is so fun to be with him and figure it all out together...there is plenty we both have to learn and there is no one else in the world I would want to do this with. I don't know how I was so lucky to find him. We are on this great adventure of life and we get to do it together. I couldn't have asked for a better man in my life.

Sorry I know my ideas bounce all over but I wait to long to blog so I always have way to much to tell. So my last thought for this blog is... Our babies will have a cousin their age to play with! I found out last night that my cousin Ryan and Heidi are expecting their first little one. She is 14 weeks now so I think that makes her due July 14 th ish. Our little ones will have play mates at the reunion's and such. :) They still don't know we are expecting so it will be fun when they find out.
